"A daughter is the poetry of a mother’s soul and the armor of a father’s pride."

Devanash carefully pulled the blanket over Naina, his touch lingering as he ensured she was comfortable. His gaze softened as he looked down at her, the exhaustion evident in her delicate features.

"You rest… aur aapko dress nahi leni kya? Mein designer bula doon?"

(You rest… and don’t you want to get a new dress? Should I call the designer?)

His voice carried a teasing lilt, but there was a quiet tenderness in his eyes, a silent promise that he would take care of everything.

Naina groaned, turning her head slightly to glare at him playfully.

"No, no! I have so many clothes, and I’ve already selected what I’ll wear!"

Her lips pouted slightly in mock irritation, and Devanash couldn’t help but chuckle. He leaned down, brushing a soft kiss against her forehead, the warmth of his lips sending a shiver down her spine.

"Theek hai, jaan." (Alright, love.)

With that, he moved to the nearby sofa, settling in with his laptop. The dim light of the screen cast a soft glow on his sharp features as he focused on his work. But even as his fingers moved over the keyboard, his eyes flickered to her every few minutes, watching her as she drifted into much-needed sleep.

Downstairs – The Living Room

The atmosphere in the living room was thick with tension. The warm glow of the chandelier did little to soften the cold fury burning in Sarita’s eyes. She stood at the center of the room, her hands clenched into tight fists, barely restraining the storm within her.

"Kunal, take him to the dungeon. I need to vent my anger on that bastard Ashok!"

Her voice cut through the air like a blade, sharp and merciless.

Suryaveer, seated in his chair, exhaled deeply, his fingers tapping against the wooden armrest in a slow, controlled rhythm. His calm exterior did little to hide the storm brewing within him.

"Aur woh jail mein tha toh bahar kaise aaya?"

(And he was in jail—how did he get out?)

Vedant scoffed, his eyes flashing with disgust.

"Uski behen ne nikalwaya hai… ghoos deke."

(His sister got him out… by bribing the authorities.)

Aardahaya let out a sharp, humorless laugh, her arms crossing over her chest.

"Oh, that naagin!" (Oh, that snake!) she spat, her voice laced with venom.

Kunal, who had been listening quietly, finally stepped forward. His face was unreadable, his expression carrying the weight of something grave.

"Haan… aur ek aur ajeeb baat pata chali hai."

(Yes… and I’ve found out something even more shocking.)

Suryaveer’s sharp gaze locked onto him.

"Kya?" (What?)

Kunal hesitated for a moment before speaking, his voice firm and measured.

"Maine Naina bhabhi aur unke bhai ki bio-kundali nikali… aur in papers ke baare mein bhi pata kiya."

(I investigated Naina Bhabhi and her brother’s background… and also looked into these property papers.)

Pratap, who had remained silent until now, leaned forward. His sharp eyes narrowed in interest.

"Kya pata chala?"

(What did you find out?)

Kunal’s jaw tightened as he began explaining.

"It’s all backward thinking… Papa, woh property ke papers bohot mehnge hain. Actually, when Bhabhi’s father died, unhone apne saare shares apni wife ke naam kar diye."

(Those property papers are worth a fortune. When Bhabhi’s father passed away, he transferred all his shares to his wife’s name.)

Suryaveer’s fingers clenched.

"Ek professor hone ke bawajood, unka business acumen bohot strong tha."

(Even though he was a professor, his business acumen was incredibly strong.)

Kunal continued, his voice carrying a deeper intensity now.

"Jo shares unhone diye the, unki value crores mein badh gayi by the time Naina Bhabhi and her brother grew up. Marne se pehle, unhone jo property Naina Bhabhi aur unke bhai ke naam ki thi, uski value ab crore mein hai."

(The shares he left behind multiplied in value over time, turning into a fortune. And before he passed, the property he left in their names is now worth crores.)

A heavy silence filled the room. Everyone’s expressions darkened as they processed the implications.

But Kunal wasn’t finished. His next words carried a sharp edge.

"Raghav—Naina Bhabhi’s brother—apni greed aur nashe ke chakkar mein bohot kuch gawa chuka hai."

(Raghav, Naina Bhabhi’s brother, has lost so much due to his greed and addiction.)

Sarita’s lips curled in disgust.

"Isliye usne Priya se shaadi kar li—paise ke liye an d to save his business.

(That’s why he married Priya—for money.)

Suryaveer exhaled through his nose, his patience thinning.

"Aur Priya?" (And Priya?)

Kunal let out a cold chuckle.

She married him so she could continue living freely with her boyfriend. She knew Raghav only cared about money and nothing else."

The room fell into a heavy silence. But then Kunal’s voice turned even darker.

"Aur Naina  Bhabhi ki maa aur Raghav chahte hain ki woh property Naina ke naam se hata kar apne naam karwa lein."

(And Priya’s mother and Raghav want Naina to transfer the property to them.)

Suryaveer’s expression hardened.

"Kyu?" (Why?)

Kunal’s voice was ice-cold.

"Kyunki unke mutaabik, ek ladki ka apne baap ki property pe koi haq nahi hota."

(Because, according to them, a girl has no right to her father’s property.)

There was a sudden, suffocating silence.

Sarita let out a slow, measured breath before speaking.

"Unki maa bohot purani soch ki hai."

(Their mother has a very backward mindset.)

Her voice was calm, but there was something deadly in it—something that promised retribution.

Suryaveer leaned back, his fingers steepled together as he thought. His silence was more dangerous than words.

Finally, his gaze flickered up, dark and resolute.

"Then it’s time they learn that this family does not let injustice slide."

No one disagreed. Because in this family, betrayal came with a price. And it was a price Raghav and Priya were about to pay.

The living room was steeped in silence, the air thick with tension as Kunal continued unraveling the bitter truths about Naina’s past. Each revelation felt like a fresh wound, cutting deeper than the last.

Sarita’s hands tightened into fists. Her entire body trembled—not with fear, but with fury.

"Woh log… Naina ke apne hai?" she whispered, her voice barely restrained.

(Her own family did this to her?)

Kunal nodded grimly.

"It doesn’t stop at the property. Naina Bhabhi aur unke bhai ke beech hamesha se talmel nahi tha. Jab se unke  father guzar gaye, uske bhai aur Priya ne unka har tareeke se shoshan kiya."

(Naina Bhabhi and her brother never got along. Ever since their  father passed away, her brother and Priya exploited her in every possible way.)

Suryaveer’s jaw tensed, his grip on the armrest tightening.

"Kaise?" (How?)

Kunal let out a heavy sigh before answering, his voice filled with quiet anger.

"Pehle toh, unhone Bhabhi ka paisa bandh kar diya."

(First, they cut off her financial support.)

Vedant’s head snapped up in disbelief.

"Matlab?" (Meaning?)

Kunal’s eyes darkened.

"Jab tak unhe Bhabhi ka property transfer karwane ka tareeka nahi mila, tab tak unhone Bhabhi ko har tarah se financially torture kiya. Ek paisa nahi dete the. Usse har cheez ke liye bheek mangwaate the."

(Until they could find a way to transfer the property to their name, they financially tortured her. They wouldn’t give her a single rupee. They made her beg for every little thing.)

Aardahaya’s hands curled into tight fists.

"Akele ladki thi, usne kya kiya?"

(She was alone—what did she do?)

Kunal’s gaze softened for a moment, admiration flickering in his eyes.

"Naina Bhabhi ne himmat nahi haari."

(She didn’t lose hope.)

A proud smile tugged at his lips, but it was laced with sadness.

"Pehle unhone tuition dena shuru kiya. Pados ke baccho ko padhana shuru kiya, taaki kuch paisa kama sake."

(First, she started giving tuition. She began teaching the neighborhood kids to earn some money.)

Pratap’s brows furrowed, anger brimming in his eyes.

Kunal

"Haan, aur uske baad jab woh kaafi nahi tha, toh unhone ek job dhundh li."

(Yes. And when that wasn’t enough, she found a job.)

A heavy silence settled over the room. Everyone knew what was coming next, but the truth still felt like a slap.

Kunal took a deep breath.

"Bhabhi ne ek manager ki tarah kaam karna shuru kiya… hamari hi company mein."

(Bhabhi started working as a manager… in our company.)

Kunal gave a slow nod.

"Haan. Jab tak Dev Bhaiya se unki shaadi nahi hui, tab tak woh independent thi. Apni mehnat ki kamaayi se rehti thi."

(Yes. Until she married Dev Bhaiya, she was completely independent. She lived off her hard-earned money.)

Aardahaya swallowed hard, shaking her head in disbelief.

"Aur Raghav? Usne ek baar bhi usse nahi samjha?"

(And Raghav? He never supported her even once?)

Kunal let out a bitter chuckle.

"Samajhta kaise? Usse toh sirf paiso se matlab tha."

(How could he? He only cared about money.)

But then his voice turned even graver.

"Aur yeh sirf paisa nahi tha… Yeh toh sirf ek tareeka tha uske zindagi ko barbad karne ka."

(And this wasn’t just about money. This was just one way to ruin her life.)

Sarita inhaled sharply, her chest rising and falling with barely contained rage.

"Aur kya kiya usne?"

(What else did he do?)

Kunal’s eyes flickered with something darker—something that made everyone’s blood run cold.

"Padosiyon ne bataya ki unhone Bhabhi par haath uthaya hai."

(The neighbors told me… that they used to hit Bhabhi.)

The entire room fell into stunned silence.

It was Vedant who finally broke it. His voice was low, trembling with anger.

"Kya?" (What?)

Kunal’s jaw clenched, his fists tightening.

*"Haan. Padosiyon ne bataya ki Priya aur uski maa Naina Bhabhi ko roz-tana torturing karti thi. Unka khana rokti thi, unse ghar ka kaam karwati haiiii

("Yes. The neighbors told me that Priya and her mother used to torture Naina Bhabhi every day. They would stop her from eating and make her do all the household chores.")

Meghana, with tears in her eyes, whispered,

"How could Priya and her mother, her own family, do this to our Naina? She is their  own child..."

Grandma, looking down with sorrow, spoke softly,

"Baache, yeh duniya andhi hogayii haiii paiso ke laaz mein... Hamare bade kehte the paiso ka istamaal aur insaan se pyaar karna chahiye. Lekin aaj kal log... insaan ka istamaal aur paiso se pyaar karte haiiii."

(Children, this world has become blind, blinded by the value of money... Our elders used to say that money should be used to care for and love people, not the other way around. But today, people... they love money and use humans as tools.)

The weight of Grandma’s words hung heavily in the air, a sharp contrast to the cruelty they were talking about. It was a bitter realization of how values had shifted in a world driven by materialism.

Pratap: Dev ko pata hai yeh sab?

(Does Dev know all this?)

Kunal: Ji papa, kal hii Bhabhi ne aadhi baat batayi aur aadhi maine... Woh chahte hain ki pehle Bhabhi usse puri baat bataye.

(Yes, papa. Yesterday, Bhabhi told me half of the story, and I told him the other half... They want Bhabhi to tell him the complete story first.)

Suryaveer: Sahi decision hai uska, insaan ko maarna aasan lekin uske soch ko maarna bohot mushkil.

(That’s the right decision from her. It’s easy to kill a person, but to kill their thoughts is very difficult.)

Aardahaya: Papa, hum har kisi ke soch ko toh nahi badal sakte...

(Papa, we can’t change everyone’s way of thinking...)

Suryaveer nodded, his face showing a deep understanding of the weight of the situation. He didn’t speak, his silence louder than any words could be.

In Devanash's room, the quiet stillness of the night was broken as Naina woke up. Her eyes fluttered open, and the first thing she noticed was Devanash still working at his desk, completely engrossed in his laptop. The soft glow of the screen illuminated his focused face, highlighting the intensity in his expression.

She blinked, momentarily disoriented, before she slowly pushed herself up from the bed. The bed was warm, but a strange longing pulled her toward him. She got up quietly, trying not to disturb him, but when she reached him, she saw that he was wearing earbuds, completely oblivious to her presence.

Naina’s lips curved into a slight frown, a pang of jealousy forming in her chest as she looked at the laptop. Why does the laptop have all of his attention? she thought, feeling a little hurt that he was so absorbed in his work.

Without realizing that he was on a conference call, she decided to make her presence known. Slowly, she climbed onto his lap and gently pulled at his collar, her fingers brushing the fabric. She leaned in and pressed her lips to his in a soft, teasing kiss.

Devanash’s eyes widened in shock, his entire body stiffening for a moment as he pulled away from the kiss, realizing she had interrupted his meeting. His voice, though calm, carried authority as he spoke to the clients over the video call, trying to maintain professionalism.

"I will continue the meeting tomorrow, my wife needs me now..."

He ended the call with a click, his attention now solely on her.

Naina, realizing her bold move had caught him off guard, felt a rush of embarrassment. Her cheeks flushed crimson, and she quickly buried her face in his neck, hiding from the intensity of her own actions. She mumbled softly, her voice almost a whisper,

"Aapne bataya kyu nahii?"

(Why didn’t you tell me?)

Devanash, his fingers gently brushing her hair back, smiled softly at her.

"Aapne pucha hii nahii."

(You didn’t ask.)

She shifted slightly in his lap, her fingers nervously tugging at the edge of his shirt.

"Main aapko disturb kar  diay na ..."

(I disturbed you..)

Devanash gave her a teasing look, his voice low and playful.

"Nahi toh aap hame disturb nahi kar sakti... Samjhi aap biwi?"

(No, then you can never disturb me... Understood, wife?)

Naina, her eyes wide with a mix of surprise and affection, nodded meekly.

"Ji."

(Yes.)

Devanash’s eyes darkened slightly with desire as he gently pulled her closer, his hands resting on her waist.

"Let me complete the mission I have started..."

Before Naina could process the words, Devanash leaned in and pulled her into a long, deep kiss. His lips captured hers with an intensity that made her heart race. His hands roamed inside her kurti, the warmth of his touch sending shivers through her body. The kiss deepened, his fingers tracing the contours of her skin as he pulled her closer, making her feel every beat of his heart.

Naina felt breathless, her hands gripping his shirt as she tried to steady herself. Just as the world seemed to spin, Devanash broke the kiss, his lips trailing down her neck, soft and insistent, kissing her with the same passion that had started everything.

Devanash’s hand moved inside her kurti, his fingers grazing the soft fabric of her skin. The warmth of his touch sent a rush of shivers through her, making her heart race even faster. He kissed her neck gently, his lips tracing the curve of her skin with slow, deliberate movements. Naina's breath hitched, her body responding to him as she tried to steady herself, but the overwhelming sensations left her feeling breathless.

She let out a soft moan, her lips parting as her hands gripped onto him, her fingers tangled in his shirt. The sensation of his lips on her neck, the intensity of his touch, made her feel both vulnerable and desired. She could hardly keep her composure as the emotions swirled inside her.

Devanash pulled her even closer, his hands roaming as he kissed her with more intensity, deepening the connection between them. His touch was gentle, yet firm, as if reassuring her of his presence, while his lips never left her skin.

---

As Devanash moved closer, his lips gently pressed against the sensitive curve of Naina’s neck, the intimacy between them deepening. His hands roamed, the tension in the room growing more palpable with every touch. But just as the atmosphere thickened, the door suddenly burst open with a loud bang.

Vedant barged in, his eyes immediately widening at the sight of Devanash’s face buried in Naina’s neck. His voice cracked as he exclaimed,

"Haaye, meri pavitra aankhein..."

(Oh my, my pure eyes...)

His face flushed a deep shade of red as he quickly turned around, trying desperately to avert his gaze from the scene in front of him.

Aaradhya, equally shocked, followed suit, turning away hastily, her hands instinctively covering her face in embarrassment.

Naina, her heart pounding in her chest, quickly detached herself from Devanash, her hands trembling slightly. She wiped her lips, where his lipstick mark was still visible, trying to compose herself as her cheeks burned with embarrassment.

Naina, trying to sound as casual as possible despite the flush on her face, stammered,

"Ved, kya huwa? Ham kuch nahin kar rahe the..."

(Ved, what happened? We weren’t doing anything...)

Devanash, with a half-smirk, teased,

"Couple ko apna kaam karne ke liye knock karke aana hota hai."

(Couples have to knock before they do their business, you know.)

Aaradhya, still with her back turned, added sarcastically,

"Room mein lock kis liye hai? Tabala bajaane ke liye?"

(Why is the room locked? To play the tabla?)

Vedant, unable to look at them for too long, kept his face turned away, mumbling under his breath,

"Bhai, mein apni aankhon ko Ganga ashlan kar ke aata hoon, tab tak aap dono neeche aajao lunch ke liye."

(Bro, I’m going to wash my eyes in the Ganga, then I’ll be back. In the meantime, both of you should come downstairs for lunch.)

Naina’s entire body felt like it was on fire with shame. She couldn’t help but blush even more as she rushed to straighten herself out, her voice barely a whisper,

"I’ll... I’ll be right downstairs."
